Preparing Our Home (Part 1)

It's hard to wrap my brain around the fact that one week from tonight, we'll be boarding a 15 hour Korean Air flight to Seoul, South Korea with a final destination of Guangzhou, China to finally meet our daughter, Jenna Jean.  After several years of thought and prayer, we officially started our adoption journey on July 2, 2012 when we submitted our application to Lifeline Children's Services.  And now here we are, 16 months later, preparing to fly to China.  So much has happened over the past 16 months, and I have tried to chronicle some of our experiences in this blog so that Jenna will one day be able to read about the journey God put us on to bring her into our family.

Today I want to share some pictures of how we're preparing our home, specifically a bedroom, for our second daughter.  Jenna has lived the first 2 1/2 years of her life in an orphanage, so everything she sees in our home will be new and different.  It has been a joy to prepare some things in our home for her arrival, and I've made an effort to involve Jenna's older siblings in this process.

I pray that our home and this room will be a safe haven for Jenna throughout her life.  I pray that she will know the truth of Jeremiah 29:11, that God has a wonderful plan for her life.  And I pray that in these final days before we meet our sweet girl face-to-face, God will continue preparing Jenna's heart for us and our hearts for her (Part 2 on this topic coming soon).
