Day 13: Reflections in the Air...Leaving Her Homeland

It’s 10:40 AM on Friday, November 22, 2013 as I write this.  I’m 30,000 feet above ground on a flight bound for Seoul, South Korea with a final destination of Atlanta, Georgia.  Seated beside me are my TWO precious daughters, Shelby Marie and Jenna Jean.  We just left Guangzhou, China where I spent the last 14 days of my life…2 weeks that were amazing, difficult, joyful, exhausting, and miraculous.

As we sit on this “short” 3+ hour flight to Seoul, I’m in awe of all that is really happening!  Our girl is coming HOME!  Jenna has no clue what is going on, but I am keenly aware of the miracle taking place.  We are leaving Jenna’s homeland, a beautiful country with beautiful people, and we are bound for her new home, an amazing country with amazing people.

This reminds me of the story of Abram (later known as Abraham) in Genesis, when God told him to leave his homeland and go to an unknown land.  And how did Abraham respond?  By faith.  Although Jenna doesn’t know this Bible story yet nor can she comprehend what is taking place in her life today, she has responded with childlike faith to her new family…she has responded with trust that is amazing…she has responded with joy that is contagious…she has responded with love that is miraculous.

Similar to what Abraham faced, there are many unknowns as we bring Jenna to her new country, her new home.  But two things are DEFINITELY known.  Jenna has a family that will love her forever.  And Jenna has a God who loves her beyond measure!
One more thing is known…Jenna is NOT happy about having to wear a seatbelt on this plane, so things will be VERY interesting once we get to our car at the Atlanta airport!
